As with any custom software, the honest answer is still “it depends.” The range for enterprise-level software can be wide, but most projects for small to medium-sized businesses fall between $75,000 and $750,000 to design, build, and implement. It’s a significant investment, but a good enterprise system tends to pay for itself quickly in time saved and information gained.
Enterprise systems are typically larger because they do more. These are usually projects for growing companies or corporations that need to support many users across many screens, covering a wide range of what the business actually does.
These projects often need to talk to other systems: accounting, cost analysis, equipment maintenance, banks, or services like Stripe, PayPal, Equifax, or TransUnion. Some modern systems integrate easily. Older systems can be considerably harder to get data in and out of.
The cost of installing, configuring, and converting older data depends on the size of the software and how accessible your existing systems are.
Support can come from your own staff or from us, depending on your internal capacity. Costs scale with whichever model actually fits how your team works.
Every new system comes with a learning curve and some process change. Budgeting for training matters, whether that means training your whole team directly or training a smaller group who then lead the rollout internally.
Changing requirements partway through adds real cost, for the same reason it does on any project: work that’s already built and tested may need to be redone. We go into more detail on why on our cost page, it applies here too, just at a larger scale.
Enterprise-scale work sometimes means bringing in additional expertise to meet a deadline. That’s a normal part of how larger projects get resourced, and it doesn’t change who you’re working with or who’s accountable for the result.
